    The thesis of this book is basically that the three months spent on the eastern front by Hans Scholl, Alexander Schmorell, and Willi Graf in particular was hardly some fairly "idyllic" trip, but rather played a large part in changing the more passive strategy of the White Rose that was advocated up until this time to a more active, radical, and immediate strategy of action. This book has been criticised by Ruth Sachs about certain journals of Jürgen Wittenstein, in particular, to which he issued a statement defending this book.

    A book put out by a school in Gilching (Bavaria, Germany, http://www.cpg-gilching.de/) bearing the name of Christoph Probst. They have put out this book, as well as an earlier one called "Wir Müssen Es Wagen" about the life of their namesake. Both are very high quality, containing many rare photos and documents. However, the first one is out of print, and the second one is available through the school, and not through amazon.de or most bookstores in Germany. I ended up having to order it at Hugendubel (http://www.hugendubel.de) in Munich, Germany in the fall of 2002.
